What Courtney's Reading

Courtney is in a book club, and is reading The Life of Pi, which I've already read. It is a really good book...makes you think.

The front insdie flap of the hardcover is:



Interestingly, the paperback has no such inscription, and instead? has a quote by the LA times book review on the cover:

"A story to make you believe in the soul-searching power of fiction."

Quite a difference.

While I thought it crystal clear, none of the people I talked to who have read the book (three of them) understood why the story might make them believe in God (they were all non-believers). Maybe that's why the editors chose a boring, blah, and watered down version of the quote?
