It's MY money, and I can do with it what I will!
Well, I guess I got up too late to celebrate mass this morning. We'll go at 6pm.
So, I did my Tai Chi instead. The teacher gave us a print-out of the names of all the moves. There at 108 of them, and I've "learned" 13. In four classes, I've learned 13. That means it'll take me about 26 weeks to learn this form.
And, of course, just knowing the movements doesn't mean much - it's more important that you do them correctly. I guess that's true for most things in life. If you give some guy $5, but think ill of him, it doesn't end up doing either of you much good.
Yesterday was a fun day. Leroy and TomP came over to help paint my porch (we got all the prep work done, and will paint it next week). We also played a couple games of "Hey, That's my Fish!", which is a cute, "clean" little game. It's stood up to it's billing (is that the right phrase?).
Before that, Molly and Sam and I played tennis. A little waif, John, came by and wanted to play. He asked for a ride home afterwards; he lived about 4 blocks away (a little far, imho, for an eight-year-old to be walking alone).
Later in the evening, I won about $20 in poker at John's (Harold, Dick, Charlie, and Paul played as well). Paul's neighbor's little girl (1-year old?), Mya (sp?) is in a coma - their family would appreciate our prayers.
Maddie's starting to get into music, now that her iPod is working. So, I've been learning about the ratings system for music. It's basically non-existant. "Review the lyrics", is the answer. So, I guess that's what we'll do. We started with her "favorite song": "Ohio (Come Back to Texas)", the worst lines of which are "and when you're through doing whoever" and "the Mexican food sucks north of here".
That's borderline, but I'm going to let her listen to it, since the rest of the song isn't objectionable. Courtney caught her with a song that had the "f" word in it, which Court deemed immediately delete-worthy.
Part of the problem is that kids hear this music on radio Disney (in its censored/clean version), and then go buy it (in its raw version). I don't even know if the clean versions are available. I'll have to look.
Well, this is getting long, and I know you are busy. I wish more of my friends (and ANY of my family) had blogs - or something, so I could keep up with their lives better (especially like Cathy, over in England). Happy B-Day to DanD!
Oh, I almost forgot, since MY b-day is coming up, you've got just a enough time (if you hurry) to order something off my wish lists:
- Secular Books/CDs
- Religious Books
- Games (click on a game, then click "marketplace")

Maybe the 'rents can blog right here in your comment box.
Sat through 2 funny films on tv earlier this eve:
The In Laws ( Michael Douglas as wild CIA dad and Albert Finney as staid podiatrist dad). Funny and action packed.
And something w/Gina Davis and Randy Quaid and Groundhog Day guy whose name escapes me totally. Fun to watch, too.
IU students back in force. B busier than ever after being gone much of the summer. L's yoga classes overflowing so that more must be added and more teaching must be taught.
Lauren and friend arriving tomorrow for 2 nights so am quickly vacumning up oodles of spider webs which seem to appear everytime company comes (just ask Molly). Lauren is Philip Kimball's (our writer friend from Kansas from way back) #2 daughter studying fashion design on east coast. Am curious about her frien' of course (Thomas), and about how she likes her studies, etc.
So I guess the girls won't be listening to Fat Boy Slim?
last comment from jomam who's hip on who Fat Boy Slim is.
How was Lauren's visit?
Lauren's visit was short and sweet and we've never seen her happier. B-frien' John is also an artist and is very presentable and from schoolteacher parents near Boston and well-educated, quiet, polite, etc.
She changed her major to photography and had made two short arty videos which we viewed.
They slept in the lower quarters which she had not was there but was perfect for them.
Don't you believe in Compassion and Choice?
jomama
I'm glad Lauren is happy!
On the subject of choice: I don't believe that someone should be allowed to choose certain actions which are harmful to themselves or others. Especially if the harm is killing (and thus irreversable).
